Christmas in NYC

Work, work, work……I’m coming to understand the phrase "if you can make it here you can make it anywhere!" Surviving in the city is a job in itself. Managing my time and money is definitely tough. It seems like I’m always on the go and rarely have time to relax. I work 9-12hrs everyday and occasionally go in on weekends to stay on top of everything. Working in fashion isn’t as glamorous as you’d think. I work long hours and 70% of the time I sit behind a computer running and analyzing reports along with data entry. However, it’s all worth it when I go to market and assist my buyer in selecting next season’s lines. This is by far my favorite part of the job! Even though my job isn’t always glamorous, the experience and exposure is invaluable for my career path to become a buyer. The Christmas season is in full swing in NYC. Everything from stores windows to the tree in Rockefeller center is decorated. It’s fabulous! My roommate Katie and I bought our first Christmas tree this past week. It was quite the task carrying the tree through Manhattan to our apartment!

I can’t believe Christmas is just around the corner. I wish I were in college just for the four-week winter break. At least I am going home for a week and I’ll get to see my family and old friends. I can’t wait! It’ll be my first break from work since I’ve started. Hope everyone has a great holiday season!
